Every year, Catrinas Rising hosts a vibrant celebration of artistry, culture, and community—featuring a presentation and friendly competition among some of Portland’s best live Catrinas from across the city.
Last year, Catrinas Rising launched its inaugural "Catrinas en la Calle" event. It brought together college students, families, and local vendors in a vibrant celebration of culture and community. Participants gathered in a safe and welcoming space at La Casa Latina, PSU. They connected, created, and shared stories while reimagining the iconic designs of La Catrina through handmade wearable art.
The celebration culminated in a parade in the heart of Portland, where each original design was proudly presented—offering the wider community a beautiful and meaningful expression of Mexican culture.
