About the event
Sombrero and Attire - Basic Design Workshop
In this final workshop series, participants will let their creativity shine as they put together a traditional sombrero. Also, they will reconstruct a Catrina-inspired basic attire that reflects their personal style, story, and where they come from.
We especially encourage participants to bring their own materials. If you need materials, please let us know during the registration process. Each person will be guided in transforming fabric or clothing they already own, thrifted finds, gifted or donated garments. Together, we will explore creative ways to work with fabric, repurposed clothing, ribbons, yarn, strings, artificial flowers, and personal decorative elements to bring each vision to life.
Participants will have the opportunity to showcase their creation as part of the Catrinas Rising Competition and Parade on October 24, should they choose to participate.
No prior experience is needed.
